This paper analyzes the emergent digital genre of "chubby girl pressing fashion and style content" (CGPFSC) as a form of corporeal and stylistic activism. Moving beyond passive body positivity, "pressing" (slang for persistently promoting or asserting) represents an active, unapologetic occupation of fashion spaces traditionally gatekept by thin-centric design. Through a qualitative analysis of 50 TikTok and Instagram Reel videos, this study identifies three primary functions of CGPFSC: (1) technical counter-narrative via styling hacks, (2) emotional reclamation of dressing as joy rather than concealment, and (3) market disruption through direct consumer feedback to brands. Findings suggest that CGPFSC operates as a tactical performance that refutes the "before" image trope, instead positioning the chubby body as the definitive, stylish subject.
Chubby girl pressing fashion and style content isn't a trend—it's a movement. Every time you post an outfit, share a styling tip, or simply exist visibly in fashion spaces, you're pressing against decades of exclusion. You're telling other chubby girls that they belong in fashion conversations. You're showing brands that our spending power matters.
