Verification & testing

Finding a Windows 10 driver for the Sharp AR-M165 can be a bit of a legacy tech adventure. Because this model was originally designed for older operating systems like Windows XP and Vista, there isn't always a "one-click" modern installer.

Sarah, however, had read the ancient forums. She knew that the AR-M165 was, at its heart, using a standard printing language called SPLC (Sharp Printer Language with Compression) or, more commonly, a PCL (Printer Command Language) variant. She didn't give up.

Because the Sharp AR-M165 was manufactured before Windows 10 was released, Sharp does not always offer a dedicated, explicitly labeled "Windows 10" installer package on their legacy support pages.

Look for the PCL6_T3 driver (often referred to as the T3 driver), which generally provides the best compatibility for newer Windows systems.

If Windows 10 fails to recognize the driver, you may need to use compatibility mode. Right-click the setup.exe file in the driver folder. Select > Compatibility .
